Chloride Removal

The UOP Fluid Catalytic Cracking (FCC) unit is the workhorse in many refineries. The process is highly flexible and is used to crack atmospheric and reduced crude into lighter fractions. The C2 (ethane and ethylene) as well as the C3 (propane and propylene) fractions are quite valuable, since they contain significant quantities of olefins that can be recovered and sent to polymer processing plants. The UOP Propylene Recovery unit (PRU) is a part of many FCC units.UOP offers adsorbent products that can remove contaminants present in your ethylene and propylene streams to help you meet monomer feedstock specifications that are often in the parts per billion (ppb) range. Highly specialized adsorbents for dehydration, sulfur (H2S and COS), oxygenates (CO2),arsine (AsH3) and mercury are used either in separate vessels, or as separate layers in a single vessel to minimize your capital outlay. These commercially proven products are uniquely designed to work effectively in highly reactive olefinic streams, without forming by-products or causing temperature runaways as a result of unwanted reactions.
